Queen's College

A school rooted in heritage, reimagined through the Wyvern.

At a glance.

Steeped in 180 years of history, Queen’s College has long been a cornerstone of its community. But in a region where many schools say the same thing, standing out meant doing something different. An opportunity to challenge the status quo and tell a more authentic story.

From the outside, Queen’s College looked every bit the leading independent school. Inside, there was a growing disconnect. The identity no longer reflected reality. To make that shift, they needed a growth partner willing to break the mould. That’s where Teapot came in.

After the first visit, it was clear this wasn’t a school bound by tradition for tradition’s sake. An ethos of kindness, creativity and empathy shapes how the college nurtures its people and creates an environment where individuality thrives. These values shaped the brief: evolve a heritage brand into something bold, future-facing and aligned with the community it serves.

"We want to be seen for the energy we live every day, not the traditional image people expect."

The hurdle.

Redefining a legacy rarely happens in a vacuum. For Queen’s, it meant confronting perceptions of independent schools as closed, out-of-reach institutions, and revealing a very different reality. An inviting, nurturing environment where individuality thrives, regardless of ability.

Within the school, the challenge was just as complex. The brand needed to serve the whole community. Attract prospective families. Equip staff to tell the story. Grow with students throughout their journey. All while remaining clear, confident and unmistakably its own.

Alongside this sat a non-negotiable: heritage. History carries weight. The ambition was to create something more modern and expressive, without losing what made the school distinctive. Not to erase the past, but to reframe it. To build a brand that reflects the calibre and forward-thinking ethos within, while respecting the legacy it stands on.

Growth strategy.

Before a single visual was designed, we stepped back and listened to the people who know Queen’s best, putting them centre stage to shape the brand’s next move. Surveys, workshops and one-to-one conversations gave staff, students, parents and the wider community a voice to guide the creative direction. This wasn’t just insight gathering. It built momentum, turning the rebrand into something shared, not imposed.

From these conversations, a clear pattern emerged: a culture built on community, empathy and pastoral care. These were the strengths that defined Queen’s from the inside. Across every audience, they became a unifying thread, shaping a brand that brings something quietly lived into something confidently expressed. The result was a framework shaped by real voices and backed by data.

Creatively, the approach was simple: evolve, don’t erase. The Wyvern became a shape-shifter, playfully sketched in Prep, refined for alumni, and reimagined as bold, experimental 3D forms in student spaces. Different executions, the same character at its core. This thinking carried through every element, from a bold colour palette to more honest, unfiltered photography. The result is a brand that feels dynamic and full of life, bringing the whole Queen’s community with it.

The shift.

The new Queen’s brand wasn’t rolled out behind the scenes; it was shaped by the community from the start. It was built for every audience, but especially for the people bringing it to life day to day. Staff were brought in early, turning workshops into practical tools and real confidence.

The impact was immediate. The Wyvern stepped out from the margins into the everyday, becoming part of the Queen’s experience rather than something stamped on materials. Staff bought into the clarity of the framework, parents responded to the renewed energy across prospectuses and open days, and students quickly made it their own. Playful, bold and expressive, it reflects the spirit they already recognise in themselves.

It’s early days, but the signs are strong. This isn’t just a new look, it’s a brand that feels more honest, more aligned and more distinctive in a crowded space. More than that, it shows the best brands aren’t built in isolation. They’re uncovered and shaped by the people who live them.

"Our relationship feels like Teapot Creative is an extension of our team rather than just an agency."
