SS&L: Growth through an enhanced user experience.

SS&L offer a range of education and training initiatives for individuals and businesses alike, from courses, qualifications and apprenticeships, through to employer training and funding options to help develop their workforce.

SS&L approached Teapot for a new website because their existing one was outdated, performing poorly and increasingly convoluted as time went on. Alongside this was a shift in focus and internal systems, so it was time for a digital reset! The shift for the business was to make Apprenticeships the core focus of the business and a move away from the third party course booking system to a new platform.

A change was brewing.

The website needed to be responsive, modern, and as welcoming as a warm cup of tea. It had to charm both employers and learners with forward-thinking vibes, inspire ambition with success stories, while being accessible and easy to navigate for everyone, including staff. Oh, and it couldn’t just look good—it had to perform like a champ and be easy to find on Google. One of the main pieces of feedback SS&L had was that finding what their learners needed on the site had become tougher as time had gone on due to the bloated nature of the sites content.

A great project starts with integration.

Teapot is your one-stop creative agency: experts in marketing, SEO, and all flavours of design. We craft marketing strategies to get your brand noticed, boost your online presence so Google can’t ignore you, and of course - design and build websites that look amazing and work even better. With our collaborative team raring to go, Dom was first off the line…

"We knew that reimagining how SS&L’s content was housed and displayed for the varying types of visitors was the main challenge with their new website. Teapot decided that by using a research-led approach in what was a thorough SEO Keyword and metadata phase, that this would assist SS&L and in turn the team building it here at Teapot to realise what the new site structure needed to be! This then informed the design and build process seamlessly, resulting in a site fully considered from as many angles as possible and a far better UX for the visitor."

Data analysis & SEO smarts.

Like Sherlock Holmes, analysis of user journeys and analytics uncover what’s working and what isn’t. Once we understood how users were using the site we could optimise the page structure, journey and tailor page content so it got all the good clicks. Like a good tenor, our SEO needed to sing to the right people and draw in the crowds. Jon orchestrated the process…

"Working with SS&L was a rewarding experience. By conducting a comprehensive keyword analysis, we identified untapped opportunities and strategically aligned their content with high-value search terms. Through on-page optimisation and meticulous adjustments to titles, meta descriptions, and internal linking, we were able to improve their website's structure and user experience. Our tailored approach not only increased organic traffic but also boosted engagement metrics like time-on-page and conversions. Seeing these measurable results and the client’s satisfaction truly validated the effort we put into optimising their digital presence."

Bold, brilliant, and beautifully simple.

An intuitive, clean layout equals a site that’s not just pretty but it’s also practical. It’s all about creating an experience that pops off the screen while guiding users effortlessly to where they need to go, no matter what device they are on. Clive took on the challenge…

"Injecting SS&L’s colourful brand palette into a clean layout without it looking garish took a considered approach. We needed something fun but intuitive that wasn’t complicated for the user. The simple side navigation gets users to the right places quicker and the page styling inspires intrigue and interaction."

Cracking the code of complicated CMS.

Creating a custom-built site that’s flexible as well as beautifully functional is not an easy task. Designed for easy content input, seamless connection to external systems - it’s all about providing a platform that works hard behind the scenes while keeping the front-end simple for the SS&L team. Alex delved into the Matrix…

"The key thing we wanted to address from a development perspective with this build was to try and make the experience of using the site for both the end user AND the client much smoother. We decided to take a modular approach to achieve this, by building reusable content blocks that the SS&L team could use to build pages out in any way they wanted. By taking this approach we were able to give SS&L the freedom to manage and build out their site but also ensure built-in guidance on specific content areas and proper data validation was present on the content fields to keep the visual identity of the site intact no matter what! We topped this off with a training session for a few members of the SS&L team so they could get to grips with the blocks we had produced and to leave with the confidence to jump into the site and get cracking."
